Volcanoes National Park - Rare Bird Hke with Jack Jeffrey - Take a "Rare Bird Hike" with renowned wildlife biologist/photographer Jack Jeffrey. Let an expert lead you through a rarely-explored pu'u, or hill, at 6,000 ft. elevation just off of Saddle Road. The forest fosters many populations of native birds no longer present at lower elevations, mainly due to the spread of avian diseases. The 3 mile moderate hike traverses over uneven ground and small, rocky hills. Transportation provided, with pick-ups in Hilo, Kea'au, and Volcano. Allow for additional travel time.
